What is the difference between "depends on" and "supported by" issue links in the issue tracker repository?

Is there a difference between "depends on" and "supported by" issue links in Jira? Or are they treated the same in this system?

Hi leetcat,

    Both terms can be used interchangeably.  We prefer to use "supported by", but "depends on" is still available as an option as it was used to link older tickets together.
