How to Use CONNECT with Direct

m.mall@isharemedical.com
I have CONNECT 4.7 with Direct installed and running.  I want to use the Direct Testing tools described at https://connectopensource.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CONNECTWIKI/pages/24576016/Direct+Testing

For the most basic "Smoke Testing", it says ...

Test Case:                                      Instructions:
Send an outbound Direct message    Send a Direct message to provider1@direct.sitenv.org

I don't know how to do this.  What do I need to do to use the CONNECT gateway to send Direct messages?

Ultimately, I want to set up an XDR endpoint and to be able to convert between Direct SMTP and XDR and XDM.  I am having difficulty finding info on how this is done.  Ideally, I would like to find some instructional examples for this.

Can anyone provide me direction in this regard?

Thanks,

Mike

Michael,

Our release testing sections demonstrate how we tested CONNECT prior to release. https://sitenv.org/home has been updated but the instructions for using their site for Direct testing is pretty straightforward - see the top of https://sitenv.org/sandbox-direct/directtransport

Also see https://connectopensource.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CONNECTWIKI/pages/93061128/Direct+Implementation+for+CONNECT+Adopters for how to use CONNECT for Direct exchange. You will ultimately use an email client to "send messages" via SMTP but CONNECT will process and "move" messages within your mail server.

Let me know how you're using CONNECT and who you're supporting so I might be able to better assist.

Re: How to Use CONNECT with Direct

Sovann,

Thank you for your reply.  Ultimately, I want to create an endpoint to enable EHRs to exchange with our HISP via XDR/XDM and, in turn, to translate the XDR/XDM messages into SMTP messages for transport via Direct to other HISPs.  Also, I want to be able to receive SMTP Direct messages from other HISPs and translate them into XDR/XDM messages for exchange with EHRs that use XDR/XDM.  I am trying to figure out how to use CONNECT to accomplish this.

I installed CONNECT with Direct 4.7 in a test environment.  I am using self-signed certificates in this case, not ones that are a part of the Direct Trust Accredited Trust Bundle (ATAB).

I was also planning to test between our production environment and our test environment, as I have done successfully with Direct.
