Connect as a Service

m.mall@isharemedical.com
I am seeking a solution that will enable us to convert messages from edge systems that speak XDR/XDM into SMTP for delivery to other systems via Direct and to receive SMTP messages via Direct and translate them to XDR/XDM for delivery to edge systems.  I installed Connect with Direct 5.0 on our test server.   That test server is also running the Java RI of Direct, including James Mail server and DirectDNS.  I am trying to figure out if I can use this Connect service to accomplish this.   The documentation says “CONNECT leverages the Direct configuration module from the ONC-sponsored JAVA Direct Reference Implementation (RI) v 3.01.”  Does this mean I can integrate my Connect installation with our existing Direct installation or that Connect uses modules from the Java RI?  Currently, I manage domains via the Config-UI that is included with the DirectDNS in the Java RI.  Do I need to replace this with the Domain manager in Connect or does Connect work with the DirectDNS we have currently installed?

I am not familiar with Connect or with XDR/XDM.   If anyone can provide guidance here, it will be greatly appreciated.

I think the best thing to do is point you to this post with links to some additional documentation
